Welcome, one and all, to another illustrious edition of Mintage Monday!
Lost Cities is one of my favorite 2-player card games. When I wanted something for more players, Reiner Knizia didn’t disappoint, giving us the fantastic gateway game Lost Cities: The Board Game.
While the game doesn’t have currency, it has a massive stack of VP chits I thought were ripe for replacement. And while the game isn’t specifically themed around the exploration of South and Central America, it’s still part of the game, so I thought Giochix’s “Pre-Colombian” coins fit the bill perfectly.
I like these coins a lot, bit perhaps not as much as offerings from Fantasy Coin and Artana Games. The relief is a little shallow and they’re a touch to shiny, bit otherwise they’re great. They have a nice size and weight, and they’re (afaik) the only South American themed coins you can buy.
I absolutely love them in my copy of Lost Cities: The Board Game!
