Well, everyone, this is it: My final(ish) #MintageMonday post! And I saved the best for last!
The Small World 2 Kickstarter came at the perfect moment in my journey through modern board games. My wife and I had always played games, but were just starting to ramp up a real modern game library, and SmallWorld was (and still is) one of our favorites.
We couldn’t have cared less about the digital implementation, but when we saw the plans for the Small World Designer’s Edition, we couldn’t resist.
It took over two years to receive it, and it was absolutely worth the wait. @DaysOfWonder absolutely nailed every single aspect of this edition. It is, without question, the best, most well-produced board gaming product I’ve ever seen. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s a fantastic, accessible game!
These coins are what started me down the dark path of replacing all my game coins with metal, and I hope you can see why. Everything about them is luxurious – their bespoke design, their size, their unique shapes, their weight, their finishes, their sound… All spot-on perfect.
When we payed $320 for the Small World DE, we thought it was really expensive. Once we received it… we discovered we’d underpaid. It really is stunning beyond words, and you all can thank these amazing coins for being the genesis of everything that has become #MintageMonday.
Unfortunately, these being saved for last means… I’ve run out of coins to show you. 😠So, for now, this will be the last #MintageMonday post.
Until I get a new set of coins, that is!
